Smart Garden Irrigation with Aqara: No More Manual Watering 🌱💧

I always thought Aqara automations were just for lights and sensors… until I realized I could hook it up to my garden irrigation system.

I bought a 24V solenoid valve and connected it through an Aqara Single Switch Module T1 (with neutral). The setup was simple:

  1. 24V power supply for the solenoid valve.

  2. Aqara relay in series with the positive wire from the power supply.

  3. Paired the relay with my Aqara Hub M2.

Then, in Apple Home and Aqara Home, I created an automation to activate irrigation:

  • Every day at 6:30 AM.

  • Only if soil humidity (measured with an Aqara TVOC + humidity sensor) is below 40%.

  • Auto shut-off after 10 minutes to avoid water waste.

Result: a smart irrigation system that saves water and adapts to real garden conditions.

Now I can turn it on from my phone when I’m away, or even tell Siri/Google/Alexa to water the plants.

Have you put the sensor directly into the soil? Sounds like an awesome solution.

This sounds like a great use of a variety of sensors. But yeah, gotta know, is the TVOC + Humidity sensor directly in the soil? Asking for a friend.
