Smart Home Automation for Climate Control

Hello everyone! I’ve been exploring the world of smart home automation for a while now, and I wanted to share my journey and some tips I’ve picked up along the way. My main goal has been to create a more comfortable and energy-efficient home, and I’ve found some great solutions that I’d love to share with you all.

I recently integrated a Broadlink RM Pro+ v3 with my SmartThings hub to control my AC unit remotely. It’s been a fantastic addition, but I wanted to take it a step further by automating the temperature based on real-time conditions. I purchased an Aqara temperature and humidity sensor to monitor the indoor climate, and I’ve been experimenting with IFTTT to create rules that adjust the AC temperature accordingly.

Unfortunately, I ran into a bit of a snag when the Aqara sensor wasn’t detected by IFTTT. After some research, I discovered that using a different sensor might be the solution. I’m now looking into other affordable options that are compatible with both SmartThings and IFTTT. If anyone has recommendations or tips, I’d love to hear them!

In the meantime, I’ve been exploring other ways to achieve my goal. One idea is to use the SmartThings app to create a custom automation that triggers the AC based on the temperature readings from the sensor. I’m also considering setting up a routine that adjusts the temperature at specific times of the day to save energy and reduce costs.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tackled a similar project or has advice on how to make this system more efficient. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to see how I can continue to improve my setup. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
