I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation for the past few months, and I must say, it’s been an incredible journey! 
My goal was to integrate various devices from different brands into a seamless ecosystem, and I’m thrilled to share my experiences and tips with you all. First off, I started with the basics—lighting automation. Using a combination of Shelly switches and some custom scenes, I’ve managed to create a system that turns lights on/off based on my presence and even adjusts brightness according to the time of day. It’s been a game-changer for my mornings and evenings! However, things got a bit tricky when I tried to incorporate my Wyze cameras and Eufy doorbell into the mix. The initial setup was smooth, but I ran into some hiccups with notification sounds and integration with Home Assistant. After some research and tweaking, I managed to resolve the issues, and now everything works like clockwork! One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been experimenting with MQTT and Node-RED. I set up a Raspberry Pi to handle some custom automation tasks, like monitoring my water meter using image processing. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, especially with OCR and image adjustments, but seeing it all come together has been incredibly satisfying!
