Smart Home Automation Setup and Experiences

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation recently, and it’s been an exciting journey! :rocket: I started by setting up my hub with a Raspberry Pi 3+ and a SanDisk High Endurance 32GB card. It’s been running smoothly, and I love how customizable it is. I’ve also integrated a mix of devices like the Nortek HUSB-ZB1 USB radio for Z-Wave and Zigbee, and the ZMote for IR support. It’s been great to see everything working together seamlessly.

One challenge I faced was setting up my Yale smart lock to trigger the lights when I come home. Initially, it was unreliable, but after some tweaking and adding a Neocool door sensor, it’s working much better! I still need to figure out how to prevent the lights from turning on when I leave, but I’m hopeful with some more adjustments.

I also love experimenting with different apps and integrations. For instance, using the Classic app has been a lifesaver when the new app acts up. It’s fascinating how Alexa can still control the lights even when the app shows them as offline. I’ve also been exploring the possibilities with my Tradfri and Philips Hue bulbs, creating some nice scenes that really enhance the ambiance of my home.

One thing I’m still researching is the best way to handle power supply and UPS integration without compromising on space or performance. I’ve heard great things about Konnected alarm panels for legacy systems, but I’m not sure if it’s the right fit for me yet.

Overall, the journey has been filled with both triumphs and learning curves. I’m grateful for the supportive community here, and I can’t wait to see how my setup evolves in the future! :star2:
