I recently embarked on a journey to transform my home into a smart haven, and I must say, it has been an incredible experience! 
Starting with the basics, I wanted to integrate my existing devices with a few new additions, and the process has been both exciting and educational.
One of the first challenges I faced was ensuring seamless communication between devices from different brands. I’ve been using a mix of Zigbee and Z-Wave devices, and while they work well individually, getting them to play nicely together took some research and experimentation. Thankfully, platforms like Hubitat and OpenHAB have been invaluable in bridging the gap and creating a unified system.
I also wanted to automate my lighting system to match the mood of the room.
