I wanted to share my recent success with setting up a comprehensive smart home system, and I hope it might inspire or help others who are on a similar journey.
I’ve been experimenting with smart home devices for a while now, but recently I decided to take it to the next level by integrating multiple brands and systems. My setup includes Govee lighting, Hubitat as my hub, and a mix of Z-Wave devices. The goal was to create a seamless automation experience while also having fun with creative features like music and lighting sync effects.
One of my favorite projects has been setting up Govee’s AI Sync Box with my 55-inch TV. It’s been a game-changer for gaming and movie nights! The rolling sync effect paired with my H6199 Immersion kit and StarPal Pro lamp creates an immersive experience that’s hard to beat. I’ve also been experimenting with linking devices across different brands, which has been both challenging and rewarding.
For those struggling with linked devices in Hubitat, I’d love to hear your tips! I’ve managed to create some workarounds using rules and associations, but it’s definitely a learning process. On another note, I’ve been impressed with how Wyze Cam v2 handles motion events, especially with the Cam Plus subscription—though I’m still curious if others have noticed longer event durations.
