I’ve been on a journey to automate my home, and I’m thrilled to share my experience with integrating smart blinds using Shelly Plus 2PM devices. I have 11 blinds in total, and while setting them up individually was straightforward, creating a seamless automation system was a bit of a challenge—especially when it came to scheduling their opening and closing times.
Initially, I created scenes to handle the closing of the blinds, which worked perfectly. However, when I tried to set up scenes for opening the blinds at specific times, things didn’t go as smoothly. Two of the blinds were supposed to open to a certain position, while the rest should fully open. The Schlafzimmer (bedroom) blinds were set to open at 8:30 AM on weekends, but this scene didn’t trigger as expected.
After some trial and error, I realized the issue was with how the scenes were configured. I had to adjust the automation timing and ensure that the scenes were properly linked to the correct devices. Once I made these adjustments, everything started working like clockwork!
It’s been a rewarding experience to see my home become more efficient and convenient. I’m now inspired to explore even more automation possibilities with my smart devices. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing smart blind automation, I’d love to hear them!
