Smart Home Automation Success Story: Motion Sensor Hack for Outdoor Alerts

I wanted to share a fantastic solution I discovered for reducing false motion alerts from my Wyze Cam Pan outdoor camera. :dart: Initially, the camera was sending alerts for every little movement, like leaves blowing or cars passing by. It was driving me crazy!

After some trial and error, I found a simple yet effective hack. I covered the top of the motion sensor with gaffer’s tape, which is flexible, weatherproof, and removable. This adjustment helped me strike the perfect balance—blocking unnecessary alerts while still detecting motion on our property. :dart::sparkles:

Here’s how it worked:

  • I covered about 60% of the sensor with tape
  • Reduced false alerts from traffic and passersby
  • Maintained reliable detection of actual activity on our property

It’s been a game-changer for my outdoor security setup! :tada: I’d love to hear if others have tried similar solutions or have additional tips for optimizing motion sensors. Happy automating! :rocket:
