Smart Home Journey: Integrating Wyze, Philips Hue, and More

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent smart home journey and some challenges I’ve encountered along the way. I’ve been diving into integrating various devices to create a seamless smart home experience, and it’s been quite an adventure!

First off, I’ve been trying to get my Wyze V2 doorbell to work with my Echo Dot as a chime. I’ve set up routines and door press announcements, but it just doesn’t seem to trigger the Echo to chime. If anyone has successfully done this, I’d love to hear your step-by-step setup process!

On the lighting front, I’m using the latest Philips Hue Bridge and have created some awesome scenes in the Hue iOS app. However, I’m trying to control these scenes using the Home Remote App and it’s been a bit of a puzzle. I’ve created a couple of tiles using the Designer App, but I’m not sure if I need separate .xaml templates for each scene and tile. Any insights would be super helpful!

I’ve also been experimenting with MQTT and color transformations, which has been both frustrating and rewarding. I’m trying to extract color values from an NSPanel widget, but my incoming value transformations aren’t working as expected. I’ve tried regex and even wrote a small JavaScript file, but I’m getting undefined values. It’s a bit of a mystery, and I’d appreciate any tips to fix this!

Another project I’m excited about is integrating the CatGenie A.I. automatic litter box. It’s such a cool device, and I’m curious if a Home Assistant integration could be developed to monitor my cat’s habits and notify me when it needs cleaning supplies. If anyone has experience with custom integrations, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Lastly, I’ve been thinking about upgrading my thermostat setup to better control my multi-zone heating system. I have hot water running to three zones, and I’m considering using motion sensors to automate temperature adjustments. It’s a bit ambitious, but I’m excited to see how it can work!

This journey has been full of learning moments, and I’m grateful for the supportive community here. If anyone has tips or success stories on any of these projects, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the smart home magic alive! :rocket::bulb:
