Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent journey setting up my smart home, along with some tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way. It’s been quite an adventure!
Getting Started with Smart Locks
I recently installed the Lock Manager SmartApp, and it’s been a breeze to set up. After adding my new lock and users, everything worked smoothly at first. However, I noticed that when I revisited the app, my lock and users seemed to disappear. It was a bit puzzling, but I managed to resolve it by ensuring all devices were properly paired and the app was updated. If anyone else encounters this, double-checking your device connections might help!
Migrating to Hubitat
I’ve also been in the process of migrating from SmartThings to Hubitat. It’s been a learning curve, but I’m loving the flexibility. I’ve integrated several devices like my Hue bridge, Sonoff switches, and Sonos speakers. One thing I’m still exploring is grouping devices by room. Does Hubitat have a room concept, or do I need to use custom groups? I’d love to hear how others organize their setups!
Exploring Lua Programming
On a lighter note, I came across the idea of adding Lua programming support for smarter automation. It’s supposed to be lightweight and efficient, which sounds perfect for optimizing my routines. If anyone has experience with Lua in their setups, I’d love to learn more!
Smart Irrigation System
Another project I’m excited about is my smart irrigation system. I’ve been using a DIY solution that combines a switch and number item to control watering times. It’s been working well, but I’m curious if there’s a way to streamline this without relying on rules. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Community Support
Lastly, I want to thank everyone in the community for their incredible support. Whether it’s troubleshooting tips or sharing successes, it’s amazing how much we can achieve together. If anyone has questions or needs help, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Looking forward to hearing your experiences and tips as well!
Best regards,
