After months of planning and research, I finally completed my smart home setup, and I couldn’t be happier!
My journey began with a mix of Z-Wave and Zigbee devices, and it’s been a fascinating experience learning how they all work together.
One of the highlights has been integrating my new Z-Wave devices, including two Aeotec Gen 6 repeaters and some GE outdoor switches. The setup was smooth, and the repeaters have significantly improved my network reliability. However, I noticed that the new mains-powered devices weren’t showing up in the routes of other devices as I expected. After some troubleshooting and waiting, everything started to connect seamlessly. It’s amazing how a little patience can make such a difference! ![]()
On the Zigbee front, I’ve been exploring the potential of Zigbee2MQTT and the ConBee II stick. It’s been a learning curve, but seeing my LED bulbs and sensors communicate without a hub has been truly impressive. I even managed to get battery status updates working, which is a huge plus for maintaining my devices. ![]()
