Hey everyone! I wanted to share a fun project I’ve been working on—turning my living room into a fully automated home theater. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I’d love to hear how others have tackled similar setups!
I started by integrating my Philips Hue lights with a facial recognition system using Double Take and Frigate. The idea was to have the lights adjust based on who enters the room. It’s been surprisingly smooth! I set up motion sensors to trigger the facial recognition, and now, when I walk in, the lights dim, and my favorite playlist starts playing automatically.
One of the challenges was ensuring seamless integration between different devices. I used Home Assistant as the central hub, which made managing all these smart devices much easier. I also added a Bose Soundtouch system for immersive audio, and it’s been a game-changer for movie nights!
What’s been most rewarding is how this setup has enhanced my daily life. Whether it’s relaxing after work or entertaining friends, the automation makes everything feel more polished. I’d love to hear if anyone else has experience with similar projects or tips for improving the system!
