Hey everyone! I’m excited to share some of my recent smart home projects and tips that might be helpful for you. Whether you’re looking to add some random lighting effects, install sensors in cold environments, or explore some great smart home products, I’ve got you covered!
First off, I’ve been experimenting with creating a system that randomly turns on the lights after sunset. It’s been a fun challenge, and while it took some time to figure out the right setup, I finally got it working using a combination of PLEG, timer switch, and core. The idea is to have the lights stay on for a random amount of time between 2-3 hours, which adds a nice touch of unpredictability to my evenings. If you’re interested in setting something similar up, I’d recommend checking out the documentation and forums for some inspiration!
Another project I’ve been working on is installing some battery-powered door/Window sensors in my shed. Since the shed is located in a cold part of Wisconsin, I wanted to make sure the sensors would hold up through the winter. I decided to wire a power transformer to the sensor to avoid battery drain, and it’s been working like a charm! I used a ZJchao 3V 1A AC Adapter to DC Power Adapter and a soft wire to create a pigtail, which makes it easy to remove and service the sensor if needed. If you’re planning to install sensors in harsh environments, this setup might be worth considering!
On the product front, I’ve been absolutely loving my Govee devices. My journey with Govee started with the M1 LED Strip Lights, and I’ve since added the Led Strip Lights Pro 2, Outdoor Ground Lights 2, and Outdoor Flood Lights to my collection. The M1 was my first purchase, and it exceeded my expectations with its versatility and performance. The Outdoor Flood Lights have been particularly impressive, providing excellent coverage and customizable settings. If you’re looking for reliable and stylish smart lighting solutions, I highly recommend checking out Govee’s range of products!
I’d love to hear about your smart home projects and any tips or tricks you’ve discovered along the way. Whether it’s a unique setup, a clever workaround, or a product recommendation, let’s share our experiences and help each other out!
