Smart Irrigation System with Soil Moisture Sensors

I’ve been really excited about integrating more sensors into my smart garden setup, and I wanted to share my journey so far. After discovering that Tasmota can work with sensors, I decided to try connecting a basic soil moisture sensor to my Sonoff SV device. The goal was to eliminate the need for an external ESP32 and streamline my garden automation system.

Initially, I thought it would be straightforward since the sensor has both analog and digital outputs. I tried connecting it to various GPIO pins on the Sonoff SV, but nothing seemed to work. It was frustrating, especially since I had success with a DHT22 sensor on the same device. I started researching online and found that others hadn’t had much luck with soil moisture sensors on the Sonoff SV either. This made me wonder if there’s something specific about the GPIO configuration on this device that I’m missing.

I decided to reach out to the community for help. Has anyone successfully connected a soil moisture sensor to a Sonoff SV with Tasmota? If so, what setup did you use? If not, do you have any tips or alternative sensor recommendations? I’d really appreciate any advice or insights you can share!

In the meantime, I’ve been exploring other ways to monitor soil moisture, including using capacitive sensors and even considering a DIY solution. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m hopeful that I’ll find a reliable setup soon. Thanks for your support and suggestions!
