Smart lighting and innovative hacks have truly transformed my home! 
I wanted to share some of my recent experiences and tips that might inspire others.
First, I’ve been experimenting with NFC tags and found a clever way to repurpose old public transport tickets as free NFC tags. Who knew those little stickers could be so useful? I’ve set up some fun automations around my home using these tags—like turning on specific light scenes or triggering music playlists with a simple tap. It’s a great way to save money while staying eco-friendly! 
On the lighting front, I’ve been diving into Zigbee and Z-Wave thermostats to optimize my heating system. With the colder months approaching, I’ve been researching the best devices to ensure energy efficiency without sacrificing comfort. I’ve found that Eurotronic Spirit Z-Wave Plus thermostats are a solid choice, especially for those looking to integrate with existing smart home ecosystems. Plus, they’re compatible with Matter, which is a huge plus for future-proofing! 
I also wanted to highlight the Govee Motion sensor I recently added. It’s been a game-changer for automating my bathroom lights. The setup was straightforward, and the sensor reliably detects motion, even in low-light conditions. Plus, it pairs seamlessly with my Shelly 1 switch, allowing me to control the lights via voice commands or the Govee app. It’s the perfect blend of convenience and reliability! 
One thing I’d love to hear more about is smart grid integration with Home Assistant. I’m curious if others have successfully set up systems where devices like heat pumps or washing machines run exclusively during periods of high solar energy production. It would be amazing to maximize renewable energy usage while reducing electricity costs. 
Lastly, I wanted to share a heartwarming story. During a recent illness, my Govee Smart Kettle was a true lifesaver. It allowed me to boil water hands-free, which was incredibly helpful when I wasn’t feeling up to doing much. It’s a small device, but it made a big difference during a tough time.
