Smart Lighting and UPS Integration Tips

I’ve been exploring ways to enhance my smart home setup, and I thought I’d share some of my experiences and tips with the community.

First, I recently upgraded my UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to ensure better protection for my devices during power outages. I was looking for a model that could log when the mains power is lost and when the UPS turns off due to low battery. After some research, I found a few models that fit the bill, and I was happy to discover that no additional cards or accessories were needed for the logging feature. It’s been a great addition to my setup, giving me peace of mind knowing my devices are protected.

Another area I’ve been focusing on is smart lighting. I’ve been using Wyze bulbs for their affordability and reliability, but I’ve been curious about infrared (IR) bulbs for better night vision without disturbing my sleep. While I haven’t found a budget-friendly option yet, I’ve been experimenting with preset scenes on my control panels. It would be fantastic if Wyze added a feature to cycle through custom scenes with a long press on the center button—something I’ve seen on other brands. This would make controlling my lights even more convenient!

On the topic of lighting, I’ve also been trying out different modes for sleep. I’ve found that dimming the lights gradually before bedtime helps signal to my body that it’s time to wind down. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference in my sleep quality. I’d love to hear others’ favorite settings or modes for sleep—maybe there’s a combination I haven’t thought of yet!

Lastly, I’ve been working on setting up a global vacation scene to keep my house looking occupied while I’m away. I’ve learned that enabling this scene overrides my existing timers, which simplifies things. It’s a handy feature, especially for those of us with teenagers who might forget to turn off the lights!

If anyone has tips or experiences to share on these topics, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep the conversation going!
