Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating smart lighting automation and temperature sensors into my home setup. It’s been a journey of discovery and problem-solving, and I hope my insights can help others looking to enhance their smart home systems.
First, I’ll talk about my journey with Shelly 1 temperature sensors. I recently installed a temperature sensor addon on my Shelly 1 unit. The idea was to use it to control my water circulation pump based on temperature readings. However, I encountered an issue where the sensor wasn’t being recognized properly. After some research, I realized that the firmware needed to be updated to the latest version (1.9) for the addon to function correctly. Once that was done, the temperature readings started appearing in the web interface, and I could set up the automation rules I wanted. It was a bit frustrating at first, but solving it gave me a great sense of accomplishment!
Next, I’d like to discuss my experience with dynamic scenes in Home Assistant. I set up an automation to flash a light when a door contact sensor is triggered. To store the light’s state before and after the automation, I used a dynamic scene. However, I noticed that the light wasn’t restoring to its previous state and was staying on. After some troubleshooting, I realized that the issue was with how the scene was being applied. I adjusted the automation to ensure the scene was applied correctly, and now everything works as intended. It’s a small tweak, but it makes a big difference in how the system operates seamlessly.
For anyone looking to integrate similar systems, I recommend starting with a clear plan and not being afraid to experiment. The community support here has been invaluable, and I’m grateful for the resources and advice I’ve found. If anyone has questions or tips about temperature sensors or dynamic scenes, I’d love to hear them!
