I’ve recently embarked on a journey to automate my home lighting system, and I must say, it’s been an enlightening experience! 
I decided to mix Govee and Hue devices, and while there were some hurdles, the results have been fantastic. Let me share my journey with you.First, I wanted to replace my outdated recessed lights with something smarter. After some research, I settled on the Hue recessed lights. However, fitting them into my existing 5/6-inch cans was a bit tricky. I discovered that the slim 6-inch model was the perfect fit, and they blend seamlessly with my decor. The RGBIC lighting is a game-changer, especially for creating ambiance during gatherings. 
Next, I wanted to automate these lights based on motion. I set up a motion sensor that triggers the lights when I enter the room. But here’s the catch: I wanted the lights to dim after a few minutes of inactivity. Initially, I faced some YAML syntax issues, but with some trial and error, I got it working! The automation now adjusts the brightness based on whether I’m actively in the room or just passing by. 
I also integrated my Govee smart bulbs into the mix. They’ve been a fantastic addition, especially for task lighting. I love how I can control them via the Govee app and even sync them with my Hue system for a unified experience. The ability to set schedules and create scenes has made my mornings and evenings much more enjoyable. 
One thing I learned is the importance of testing each component thoroughly. For instance, ensuring that my motion sensor is correctly positioned to avoid false triggers was crucial.
