Smart Lighting & Automation: Tips & Tricks

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and automation, and it’s been a fascinating journey! :star2: From setting up my first smart lights to integrating multiple devices, I’ve learned a few things along the way that I’d love to share with the community.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was ensuring consistent brightness throughout the day. After some research, I discovered that setting up a schedule with time-based adjustments was the key. Using my smart hub, I programmed the lights to gradually increase in brightness as the sun rises and dim as it sets. It’s made a world of difference in creating a more natural lighting environment!

Another thing I wanted to mention is the importance of choosing the right devices. I’ve tried a few different brands, and while each has its pros and cons, compatibility has been crucial. I ended up mixing Zigbee and Wi-Fi devices, and using a reliable hub to manage them all. It’s been smooth sailing ever since!

I also stumbled upon a fantastic tip for automating my bathroom extractor fan. Instead of relying on manual switches, I set up a humidity sensor that triggers the fan automatically. It’s been a game-changer, especially with the kids forgetting to turn it on or off. Plus, it’s helped reduce moisture buildup, which is a bonus!

One thing I’m still curious about is integrating energy data storage. I’m currently using SQLite in memory for most of my data, but I need a way to keep my solar panel and P1 meter data persistent across reboots. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your setups and recommendations!

Lastly, I wanted to give a shoutout to the community for being so supportive. There’s no better feeling than solving a problem or learning something new from fellow enthusiasts. Here’s to many more projects and discoveries! :rocket:
