Smart Lighting Automation with Button Controls

I’ve been exploring ways to enhance my smart lighting setup, and I wanted to share my experience with the community. Recently, I’ve been working on setting up a system where I can toggle between different light settings using a simple button press. This has been a fun project, and I’d love to hear others’ thoughts or tips on improving it further.

I have a Gledopto RGB Zigbee bulb in my living room, and I wanted to create a scenario where pressing a button would switch the light from soft white at 100% brightness to red at 50% brightness. After some research and experimentation, I managed to set this up using a combination of SmartThings routines and IFTTT. It’s been working smoothly, and it’s added a nice touch of automation to my evenings.

However, I encountered a minor issue initially where the bulb wouldn’t always transition smoothly between the two settings. After some troubleshooting, I realized it was a matter of adjusting the timing in the routine to ensure the bulb had enough time to process the color change. Once that was sorted out, everything worked like clockwork!

I’d love to hear if anyone else has similar setups or if there are more efficient ways to achieve this kind of automation. Maybe there’s a way to incorporate voice commands or integrate it with other smart devices for an even more seamless experience. Let me know your thoughts!

Cheers,
