Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to share my journey with Homey and how I’ve managed to create a seamless smart lighting system that integrates with weather forecasts. As a newbie to Homey, I’ve been exploring its capabilities and decided to tackle a project that combines my love for automation and eco-friendly living.
My goal was to automate my Brel Rolluikens (roller shutters) based on weather conditions, specifically temperature and sunlight. The idea is simple: if the temperature is above 22°C and it’s sunny, I want the shutters to close automatically to keep the house cool. This seemed straightforward, but I’ve hit a few bumps along the way.
I’ve set up the KNMI Weather app to pull real-time data and integrated it with Homey’s flow system. However, getting the flow to trigger correctly has been a bit of a puzzle. I’ve shared my current flow setup here, and I’m hoping someone with more experience can offer some insights or suggest improvements.
One thing I’ve learned is the importance of testing and tweaking. I’ve tried adjusting the temperature thresholds and checking the weather data feed to ensure accuracy. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to see this project come together!
If anyone has successfully implemented a similar system or has tips for optimizing flows, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s make our homes smarter and more energy-efficient together! ![]()
