I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I wanted to share my experiences and findings with the community. I’ve been using an Aeotec V3 hub with SmartThings, and I’ve been looking to expand my outdoor LED lighting setup. In my research, I’ve come across three main brands: Gledopto, Mi-Light/MiBoxer, and Sunricher. All of these controllers are Zigbee 3.0 compatible, which is a big plus for seamless integration with my existing setup.
I started by exploring Gledopto, as their controllers seem to be the most frequently mentioned in the SmartThings app. I’ve read positive reviews about their reliability and ease of use. However, I also came across some concerns regarding the WW white channel on RGBWW models. It seems that installing a custom driver is necessary to unlock the full features. While this might be a bit intimidating for someone without a coding background like myself, it’s good to know that there’s a solution out there.
Next, I looked into Mi-Light/MiBoxer. Their controllers also support Zigbee 3.0 and come with a range of features like 16 million color options and 2.4G RF remote control capabilities. The compatibility with Mi-Light/MiBoxer remote controls is a nice touch, but I’m still unsure if these controllers can be used natively with SmartThings without additional setup. I’ve reached out to the community for clarification, and I’m hopeful that someone can shed some light on this.
Lastly, I considered Sunricher. They’re known for their intelligent LED lighting control solutions, including dimmers and RGB controllers. Their products are compatible with various smart home protocols, but I’m curious to know if they can integrate smoothly with my Aeotec V3 hub without the need for a separate Hue bridge.
After spending hours researching and reaching out to forums, I’m leaning towards Gledopto due to their strong presence in the SmartThings ecosystem. However, I’m still open to suggestions and would appreciate any insights from those who have experience with these brands. If anyone has tips on how to ensure a seamless integration or has recommendations for alternative brands, I’d be more than grateful to hear them.
This journey has been both exciting and a bit overwhelming, but I’m determined to find the perfect setup for my outdoor lighting needs. Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their knowledge and experiences! ![]()
