I’ve been on a quest to integrate some WiFi LED strips into my smart home setup, and I wanted to share my journey and learnings with the community. Google Home has been my go-to platform for voice controls, and I’ve been really impressed with how seamlessly it works with my existing devices. However, I’ve also been exploring SmartThings for its robust automation capabilities, and I was curious to see if I could bridge these two ecosystems for my LED strips.
Initially, I thought that adding the LED strips to Google Home would automatically make them compatible with SmartThings. But after some research and experimentation, I realized that it’s not always a straightforward process. The good news is that there are workarounds! By using third-party integrations and some smart app rules, I’ve managed to create a setup where I can control my LED strips through both platforms. It’s been a bit of a puzzle, but the satisfaction of seeing everything work together is worth it!
One thing I’d love to hear more about is how others have managed similar integrations. Do you have any tips or tricks for making Google Home and SmartThings play nice together? I’d also love to hear about your experiences with different brands of LED strips and how they’ve worked (or not worked) with these platforms. Let’s keep the conversation going!
