Smart Lighting Setup and Safety Tips

I recently embarked on a journey to design a smart lighting system for my newly built home, aiming for a balance between modernity and reliability. After extensive research and discussions, I found the Wemo 3-Way Light Switch to be a fantastic solution, offering seamless control via the Wemo app and compatibility with popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. However, I faced challenges in ensuring fail-safes, especially during power outages or system malfunctions. I discovered that integrating traditional dimmers with Z-Wave networks provided a robust fallback, ensuring lights could still be manually controlled if the smart system failed. This setup not only met our safety requirements but also allowed for color temperature adjustments when the system was online. I’d love to hear others’ experiences and tips for achieving a similar balance between smart and traditional lighting systems. Additionally, I’d appreciate any advice on ensuring child safety around LED lights, as I’ve read about the risks of flickering lights causing seizures. Please share your strategies for maintaining a safe and functional smart home environment.
