Smart Lighting Setup and Troubleshooting

I’ve been working on setting up my smart lighting system, and I thought I’d share my experiences and some tips that might help others.

1. Choosing the Right Devices: I went with a mix of Govee RGBIC neon rope lights and some traditional switches. The Govee lights are fantastic for creating ambiance, especially with their customizable colors. I installed them in my ceiling, and they really brighten up the space! However, integrating them with my existing setup required some tweaking.

2. Integration Challenges: I tried integrating my devices with both Hubitat and Home Assistant. While most devices worked seamlessly, some, like my Konnected alarm system, didn’t play nice with dual integrations. I had to rely on HADB to bridge the gap, which worked but felt a bit clunky.

3. Troubleshooting Tips: If you’re having issues with your smart devices, especially after firmware updates, here are a few steps I found helpful:

  • Check the device’s API limits if it uses one.
  • Ensure all connections are stable, especially for devices using Telnet.
  • Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community forums for support.

4. Future Plans: I’m looking into setting up a more streamlined system, maybe sticking to one platform for better integration. I’m also excited to explore more creative uses for my Govee lights, like syncing them with my music system for a cohesive entertainment experience.

If anyone has tips on integrating devices without API limits or has successfully dual-integrated devices, I’d love to hear your strategies!
