After spending quite some time setting up my smart lighting system, I wanted to share my experience and some tips for anyone looking to integrate Xiaomi Aqara sensors into their setup.
I started by installing a few Xiaomi Aqara Zigbee temperature and humidity sensors in different rooms. They’ve been working flawlessly so far, providing accurate readings that I can monitor on my dashboard. However, I ran into an issue when trying to get Alexa to report the temperature directly. I tried setting up virtual thermostats and even explored Echo Speaks, but nothing seemed to work as intended.
One thing I discovered is that while Echo Speaks can trigger actions based on temperature, it doesn’t natively support announcing temperature values. I ended up creating a workaround using a combination of triggers and actions, but it’s still not perfect. If anyone has a better solution, I’d love to hear it!
On a brighter note, I’ve been impressed with how seamlessly these sensors integrate with my existing smart home ecosystem. They’ve definitely added a layer of convenience and comfort to my daily routine.
If you’re considering adding Xiaomi Aqara sensors to your setup, I’d recommend starting with a few in key areas and gradually expanding. Their reliability and compatibility make them a great addition to any smart home project. Happy automating! ![]()
