I recently completed a smart lighting setup in my home, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips for anyone looking to do something similar. 
Starting with the basics, I decided to go with a mix of Zigbee and Z-Wave devices to ensure compatibility and reliability. The Philips Hue ecosystem was my go-to for most of the lighting fixtures, paired with some Fibaro switches for manual control. The combination has been seamless, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything integrates with my Homey hub.
One of the challenges I faced was ensuring consistent coverage throughout the house. I ended up installing a few Aeotec 7 repeaters, which made a world of difference. The range issues I was initially worried about are now a thing of the past! 
I also experimented with some Govee smart plugs to add lighting effects to my outdoor setup. They’ve been a game-changer for creating ambiance during gatherings. The ability to control everything through voice commands or my phone has truly elevated my daily routine.
For anyone looking to embark on a similar project, my advice is to plan meticulously. Take the time to map out your lighting needs room by room and consider both functionality and aesthetics. Don’t hesitate to mix brands if it means getting the best devices for your space—compatibility is key, but it’s achievable with the right setup.
