Smart Lighting Setup for Night Mode

Hey everyone, I’ve been experimenting with setting up smart lighting in my home, and I wanted to share my experience and some tips! :rocket:

I recently got a Duo RGB light bulb and was really excited about its color-changing capabilities. My goal was to create a cozy night mode where the lights turn red during the evening, perfect for relaxing after a long day. However, I ran into a little issue—I discovered that the night mode feature only adjusts brightness, not the color.

At first, I thought I might need to add more hardware, like a Shelly switch with a script, but I wanted to keep things simple. After some research, I found that custom automation rules could help me achieve the desired effect without extra hardware! :tada:

Here’s what I did:

  1. Set up a timer to automatically change the light color to red at sunset.
  2. Create a rule to revert the color back to white in the morning.
  3. Used the built-in scenes feature to toggle between day and night modes with a single press.

It’s been working perfectly for a week now, and it’s amazing how much of a difference the red lighting makes in the evenings! :night_with_stars:

I’d love to hear how others are customizing their lighting setups or if anyone has tips for creating even more immersive scenes. Let’s share and learn together! :bulb::sparkles:
