Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with setting up smart lighting using dimmers and predefined scenes. I’ve been experimenting with my lighting setup for a while now, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I started by installing dimmers in key areas like the kitchen and hallway. These dimmers allow me to adjust the lighting to different levels, which is perfect for creating ambiance. I’ve defined four main scenes: Night Mode, Day Mode, Evening Mode, and Ambient Mode. The Night Mode is great for late nights; it dims the lights to just 1% brightness, providing enough light without being too harsh. The Ambient Mode is perfect for relaxing evenings, giving the room a cozy glow. I’ve integrated these scenes with the sun’s position, so the lights automatically adjust based on whether it’s daytime or nighttime. For example, during the day, the lights are set to 100% brightness, and in the evening, they dim to 30%. Setting this up required a bit of automation, but it was worth it. I used a combination of switches and automations to trigger the scenes. The process was a bit trial and error, but with some research and experimentation, everything fell into place. I’d love to hear how others have set up their lighting systems. Do you use predefined scenes? What automations have worked well for you? Let’s discuss and maybe share some tips! ![]()
