Smart Lighting Setup with Motion Sensors and Color Customization

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up a smart lighting system in my home. I’ve been really impressed with how much I can customize everything, but I also ran into a few challenges along the way. Hopefully, my experience can help someone else out there!

First, let me start by saying that I’ve been using Wyze cameras and bulbs for a while now, and I’ve been generally happy with their performance. However, I recently ran into an issue with one of my outdoor Wyze bulbs. It kept dropping off my WiFi network, and I had to constantly power cycle it to get it back online. I tried replacing it with another Wyze bulb, but the same problem persisted. It’s frustrating because I have another outdoor bulb just a few feet away that’s been working perfectly for years. Does anyone else have similar issues with their Wyze bulbs, or is there something specific I can do to resolve this? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

On a more positive note, I’ve been experimenting with integrating my smart lights with motion sensors. I have a Tuya Zigbee switch and a WiFi relay that I’ve been using to control my lights. The setup works, but I’m missing out on state feedback. I can see the state in the Tuya app, but Home Assistant doesn’t seem to pick it up. I’m currently running Home Assistant on a VM, but I’m considering switching to a Raspberry Pi with a Conbee II key to see if that helps. Has anyone else had success with this kind of setup?

Another thing I’ve been exploring is customizing the colors of my lights. I have some Innr bulbs that I’ve been using with a Fibaro smart dimmer. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’ve managed to set up some really nice color scenes. The dimmer itself has a physical button, which I love because it gives me a tactile way to adjust the brightness. I’ve been wondering if there’s a way to disable the actual dimming functionality of the relay and have it just send signals to Home Assistant instead. That way, I could maintain the physical interaction without affecting the electrical current. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Finally, I wanted to mention the Wyze Pan Cam V1. I’ve had one for ages, and it’s been a reliable camera. But when I bought a refurbished one recently, I ran into some issues during the update process. It kept getting stuck on a solid yellow light, and I couldn’t seem to get it to update properly. I tried everything from factory resets to flashing the firmware manually, but nothing worked. It’s been really frustrating, and I’m hoping someone out there has a solution for this dreaded yellow light issue.

Overall, I’ve been really impressed with how much I can automate and customize my home with smart devices. There are definitely some bumps along the way, but the potential is huge. I’d love to hear your experiences and tips, especially if you’ve tackled similar challenges. Happy smart home experimenting! :star2:
