Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Smartlock 2.0 auto-unlock feature. After a long day at work, I arrived home with my phone battery at 7%, plugged into my car via Android Auto. The ring-to-open feature triggered, but the door didn’t open. I manually unlocked it from the app, which worked without any issues. However, about an hour later, my phone triggered an auto-unlock notification. This was unexpected and a bit concerning for peace of mind.
After some research, I believe the issue relates to the phone’s battery saver mode and location updates. The geofence settings were correctly configured, but the phone’s OS didn’t update the location after stopping navigation in the garage. Once the battery saver turned off, the location updated, triggering the auto-unlock.
I think the app should consider scenarios where the phone is in battery saver mode, hasn’t moved for a while, or is charging. It would be great if the app could prevent auto-unlock under these conditions.
