Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating a smart lock into my home automation setup. I’ve been using Yale B1L push button locks for a while now, and they work great for the most part. However, I noticed that the lock status updates are a bit slow in Home Assistant. It’s not a huge issue, but I was curious if others have experienced the same or if there are faster alternatives out there. If anyone has insights or recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
Speaking of home automation, I’ve been working on a fun holiday DIY project this season. I decided to set up some smart lighting around the house to get into the festive spirit. I’ve been using Govee LED strips for their reliability and vibrant colors, and they’ve really transformed the place. I even integrated them with my voice assistant so I can change the lighting scenes with just a command. It’s been a great way to add some holiday cheer without too much hassle.
One thing I’ve been struggling with is getting the lights to update their status correctly after a power outage. I’ve tried a few different settings and even reached out to the community for advice. It turns out, updating the firmware and ensuring all devices are on the same network helped a lot. I’m still tweaking things here and there, but overall, it’s been a rewarding project.
I’d love to hear how others are using their smart home setups during the holidays. Whether it’s lighting, temperature control, or security, sharing tips and tricks always helps us all learn something new. Happy holidays and happy automating! ![]()
