As I recently had the opportunity to install a smart lock system for a doctor’s office, I thought I’d share my experience and insights with the community. The goal was to provide a seamless remote access solution for their employee door, allowing them to easily add or remove user codes and lock/unlock the door from anywhere.
I chose the Schlage Connect keypad lock, as it was readily available and integrates well with my existing smart home ecosystem. However, the challenge came in deciding which hub to use—Smartthings or Wink. I wanted something user-friendly for the office staff, who aren’t tech-savvy.
After researching and considering the ease of setup and control options, I decided to go with the Smartthings hub. It provided a straightforward interface and seamless integration with their existing setup. The installation process was smooth, and the staff appreciated how intuitive the system was.
One thing I learned was the importance of clear communication and training. Taking the time to walk them through the app and features made a big difference in their confidence using the system. It’s a great reminder that even the best technology needs proper guidance to be fully utilized.
