Smart Lock U200 - high frequency of failed locking attempts (~50%)

The lock has been working great for probably more than 6 months but since April or so I get a lot of failed lock attempts. I close the door firmly and have also tried adjusting to the bolt should move very freely.

Still I get this (2 hits and two missed w/o even opening and closing between attempts):
Closing and opening via voice (does not matter if it’s via app)

Should this be sent back or any ideas?

Note:
I’ve read that people out of warranty get a replacement and others open it and clean and re-lube it with less sticky grease. I have opened a support errand but hope to get quick feedback here.

Thanks in advance"

Hmmm sounds for also a little with the grease issue. Which production date is your U200?

I would also suggest checking your lock (not the U200). Try using your key to see how much force is needed to open the door.

My U200 was manufactured on 12/2024 but in my case the failure was not caused by the grease, but by the mortise lock. You can read about my misadventure here.

If you have a mortise lock older than 8-10 years then I’m afraid it may be the reason of U200 errors.

Oh, and my new mortise lock jams if you try to pull the door while turning the key, so if you’re impatient and hold the handle while the U200 is turning the key, then it may also be the cause of errors.

How can I tell? Cannot find on the box nor via the app. Can check on the lock itself within short.

The door lock is old but in my opinion it’s not hard to operate. I have been struggling a lot with a Glue lock in the past and ended up changing the “lock box/coffin” as we say in Swedish, i.e the whole part inside the door including both bolts.

PS. I bought two U200 kits in September 2025. I’ve only installed one but doubt the second one as well since they’re probably from the same manufacture date period or even batch.

It’s on the box, under the barcode

If you read my post, you’ll see that it’s sometimes really hard to tell if the mortise lock is failing. It can just jam one day.

Another thing you can do is just unscrew the three screws holding the U200 to the back plate. Then unmount the U200 (you can leave the back plate mounted) and try manually turning the knob to check if the U200 itself has a grease/gear problem.

The gears and knob are one mechanism so if the knob is hard to turn, the motor will also have a problem.

It’s on the box outside a small white sticker
