Smart Locks: Spindle vs Cylinder Control - UK Perspective

I’ve been researching smart locks for my front door, and it’s been quite the journey! After spending hours comparing options, I’ve narrowed it down to two main approaches: locks that control the euro cylinder directly, like the Ultion Nuki Smart Lock GO, and those that replace the door spindle, such as the Simpled SS Slim Series.

The Ultion Nuki GO seems appealing because it doesn’t require any changes to the door’s exterior. It uses a smart motor to rotate a key that’s always inside the lock. This setup keeps the door’s look intact, which is a big plus for me. However, I’m a bit concerned about the reliability of key-based systems over time.

On the other hand, the Simpled SS completely removes the euro cylinder and operates via the door spindle. This approach might offer better integration with existing door hardware, but it means the outside of my door will have a different look. I’m not sure if I’m ready for that kind of change.

I’d love to hear from others in the UK who’ve installed either of these systems. What’s been your experience with reliability, ease of installation, and overall satisfaction? Any tips or pitfalls to avoid would be invaluable!

I’m leaning towards the Simpled SS for its potential ease of use, but I’m still on the fence. Your insights would help me make the best decision for my home. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
