Smart Plug Recommendations and Camera Tips

Hi everyone! I’ve been exploring the world of smart home devices lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and tips. First off, I’ve been on the hunt for a reliable smart plug with power consumption tracking that works seamlessly with SmartThings. After some research, I stumbled upon the BlitzWolf BW-SHP13. It’s compact and fits perfectly in my power strip. While it didn’t initially show power usage in SmartThings, I found that resetting the device and ensuring it was properly paired solved the issue. It’s been a great addition to my setup!

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with my Wyze Cam v3. I’ve noticed that motion detection can be a bit hit or miss, especially in low-light conditions. I’ve increased the sensitivity to max and adjusted the motion zones, which has helped a bit. However, I’m still curious if others have experienced similar issues or have tips to improve reliability. Also, I’ve heard about using an IKEA egg timer for time-lapse videos with the Wyze Cam. It’s such a clever hack! I plan to try this out soon and see how it works.

Lastly, I wanted to mention the importance of firmware updates. After updating my Wyze Cam, I noticed some improvements in connectivity, though it’s still a bit finicky in extreme cold weather. I’m hopeful that future updates will address these issues.

If anyone has additional tips or recommendations for smart plugs or camera setups, I’d love to hear them! Happy smart home tinkering! :rocket:
