I’ve recently set up a smart shower automation system in my home, and I’m absolutely thrilled with the results! Using a room humidity sensor and a door contact sensor, I’ve created an automation that reliably detects when someone is showering. 
Here’s how it works: when the bathroom door closes, the system records the initial humidity level. If the humidity increases by 5% or more, it triggers a notification letting me know someone is showering. The system also tracks how long the shower lasts and sends an end notification when the door opens again. 
This setup has been incredibly handy, especially since our bathroom also serves as a toilet. Knowing when someone is showering helps manage bathroom usage more efficiently, especially with multiple people in the household. Plus, it’s been a fun project to work on with ChatGPT, though I had to tweak some of the YAML code to make it compatible with my system.
