Smart Shower Automation: My DIY Experience

Hey everyone! I’ve been really into smart home projects lately, and I thought I’d share my latest venture—automating my shower. It’s been a fun challenge, and I’m excited to tell you all about it!

I started by brainstorming what I wanted. I knew I wanted hands-free control, temperature regulation, and energy efficiency. After some research, I decided to use a Sonoff smart switch, an irrigation valve, and a Reed switch for door sensing. The setup is pretty basic but effective!

Here’s how it works: When I open the bathroom door, the Reed switch triggers the Sonoff to turn on the power to the irrigation valve, which controls the water flow. I left the manual shower valve in place so I can adjust the temperature manually—perfect for those morning tweaks. The system also cuts off the water when the door closes, which is super convenient!

One thing I learned is the importance of having a manual bypass. I added one just in case the system fails, ensuring I never get stuck without water. It’s a small addition but a huge safety net!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this setup. Have any of you tried something similar? I’m also curious if there’s a way to automate the temperature adjustment without adding a complex setup. Let me know your ideas!

To all the DIY enthusiasts out there, don’t be afraid to start small. Even simple projects can make a big difference in your daily life. Happy tinkering! :shower::bulb:
