Smart Water Valve Automation Tips and Tricks

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with setting up the Smart Water Valve+Meter (ADC-SWM150). After some trial and error, I managed to create a seamless automation system that has truly enhanced my home’s water management. Here’s how I did it:

Creating Notifications

  1. Verification: First, ensure the valve is correctly installed and added to your account. This step is crucial for all subsequent configurations.
  2. Login: Access your Alarm.com account via the website or mobile app. I found the website more user-friendly for detailed settings.
  3. Notifications Setup: Navigate to the Notifications section. Here, I edited the Water Flow Alert and enabled monitoring for Frozen Pipes Risk. Customizing these alerts ensures I’m always informed about potential issues.
  4. Recipients: Don’t forget to add email recipients to receive notifications. It’s a simple step that adds a layer of security.

Setting Up Rules

  1. Automation Access: Log into the Alarm.com website. Unfortunately, rule creation isn’t supported on the mobile app, so a desktop is necessary.
  2. Edit Water Flow Rule: Under Automation, I edited the Water Flow Shut-Off Rule. This allowed me to customize actions based on different leak types.
  3. Save and Test: After configuring, save the rule and test it. I did a quick test by simulating a minor leak, and the system responded perfectly!

Tips for Success

  • Regular Checks: Periodically review your notifications and rules to ensure everything is up-to-date.
  • Dealer Assistance: If you’re unsure about any settings, reach out to your dealer. They can provide personalized advice and ensure your system is optimized.

This setup has given me peace of mind, knowing my home’s water system is under constant, intelligent monitoring. If anyone has questions or needs help, feel free to ask! :ocean::sparkles:
