I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and one of the devices I’ve been working with is the SmartIR. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m excited to share my experiences and tips with the community!
First off, I set up the SmartIR according to the instructions, but initially, nothing appeared in the entities section. After some troubleshooting, I realized I needed to ensure the device_code was correctly configured in my configuration.yaml file. Once that was sorted, the device showed up as expected!
Here’s a quick tip for anyone setting up SmartIR: make sure your temperature and humidity sensors are correctly linked in the configuration. I had to double-check mine to ensure everything was properly mapped. Also, if you’re using multiple IR devices, organizing them in groups can make management much easier!
Another thing I found useful was creating custom automations. For example, I set up a routine where the bedroom HVAC adjusts based on the time of day and occupancy sensors. It’s made my mornings a lot more comfortable!
