New to the Aqara Family, but coming from years of August Home Locks I was hesitant and also did some searching Aqara and one of my concerns was future product updates. But install was a breeze only thing I had to do is slightly remove about 1/16 of a inch to add the new latch in the door frame, done simply with a flat screw driver and tracing the piece (but many won’t even have to do that). Setup in the app was super simple, with Apple Home Integration.
Coming from August, I was sick of play with 2nd and later generations buying AA then to costly batteries, but this Aqara SmartLockU400 has held a battery charge which is impressive from 1/8 till 2/9 and is at 83% remaining, and I have kids.
Use, is amazing, I love the new features, UWB that I hated using prior products have to remove my phone from the pocket. The SmartLockU400 has UWB built in and works spot on, I have NOT had any failures over the last 30 days with this working on my iPhone and or even using just my Apple Watch.
Then I love the finger print access, I have NOT had this in the past, and with having kids, it now makes my life a little easier, if I’m not home when the school bus drops them off, they can get inside, and I don’t need to give them a key, and or a pin that I worry about them giving to a friend by accident.
Overall I give it a 9.5 with the only thing I wish I could do is assign temp users finger prints for - time based access vs having to create Pins (as some people don’t remember them) but for the home owners you don’t need to worry about this.
