I recently set up my SmartThings hub alongside Alexa and was pleasantly surprised by how well they work together. For instance, I’ve managed to create routines where my Philips Hue lights dim when I ask Alexa to “good night,” and my SmartThings-enabled thermostat adjusts accordingly. It’s amazing how these ecosystems can complement each other!
One thing I’ve noticed is the importance of cloud-based services like IFTTT or even SmartThings’ own rules engine. They act as bridges between platforms, allowing for more complex automations. For example, I have a rule where my security cameras start recording if my motion sensor detects activity, all triggered by a simple voice command.
