SmartThings and Hive Heating Integration

Hi All,

I’ve been exploring ways to integrate my Hive thermostat with SmartThings, and I wanted to share my experiences and ask for some advice. While Hive is one of the most popular smart thermostats in the UK, getting it to work seamlessly with SmartThings hasn’t been straightforward. I’ve tried several methods, including using third-party integrations and custom automations, but I’m still hitting some roadblocks.

First, I’d like to highlight some of the features I’m looking to achieve:

  1. Temperature Monitoring: I want SmartThings to read the current temperature from my Hive thermostat and display it in my dashboard.
  2. Heating Control: I’d love to be able to adjust the heating settings (like target temperature and schedule) directly from SmartThings.
  3. Automation Integration: Integrating Hive with other SmartThings devices, such as my Philips Hue lights or Sonos speakers, to create a cohesive smart home ecosystem.

So far, I’ve managed to get the Hive thermostat to report temperature data to SmartThings using a custom integration. However, controlling the thermostat from SmartThings has been a challenge. I’ve tried using the SmartThings IFTTT applet, but it doesn’t seem to recognize the Hive thermostat as a controllable device.

I’ve also explored using the Hive API directly, but I’m not very familiar with coding or scripting. I’ve heard that some users have created custom routines or used WebCore to bridge the gap between Hive and SmartThings, but I’m not sure where to start.

If anyone has successfully integrated Hive with SmartThings, I’d love to hear about your setup and any tips or resources you can share. Maybe there’s a simpler way that I’m missing!

Looking forward to hearing from the community and hopefully finding a solution that works!

Best regards,
Kraeg
