SmartThings Discontinuation and Alternatives

I recently encountered some concerning news regarding the discontinuation of SmartThings, and I wanted to share my experience and seek advice from the community.

I have been using SmartThings for quite some time now, integrating it with various sensors and devices to create a seamless smart home ecosystem. However, I was shocked to discover that Samsung has discontinued SmartThings in Canada, making it increasingly difficult to purchase sensors directly from their website or authorized retailers. This has left me in a bit of a predicament, as I rely heavily on these devices for my home automation setup.

I reached out to Samsung support, and they confirmed that SmartThings is no longer available for purchase in Canada. This is quite disheartening, as it leaves many users like myself without a clear path forward. I have over 40 SmartThings sensors in my home, and the thought of having to replace them all is overwhelming.

I understand that there might be alternative solutions or workarounds, but I am not entirely sure where to begin. I have heard of other platforms like Hubitat and OpenHAB, but I am not familiar with their capabilities or how they might integrate with my existing setup.

If anyone has experience transitioning from SmartThings to another platform or has advice on how to proceed, I would greatly appreciate your insights. Additionally, if there are any community-driven initiatives or forums where users are sharing their experiences with alternative solutions, please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your help and support. I look forward to hearing from you and learning more about the options available to me.
