The Aqara team have very kindly allowed me to show you all a short video about the new Multi Presence Sensor. This is just a short teaser to give everyone an idea of what to expect. THIS SHOULD NOT BE SHARED OUTSIDE THE AQARA FORUM.
As you will see, the sensor boasts both millimetre wave and PIR detection sensing, a light sensor, temperature sensor and humidity sensor all rolled into one package. There are both ZigBee and thread protocols meaning that it works well with the matter ecosystem of your choice and the device is extremely responsive and reliable. In the time that I have been testing this new device, I have already decided that I will be replacing a couple of my FP2 sensors and I will also be getting a few for my parents as well.
The battery life should last 2+ years and the automations are endless. I have already used it to turn on/off lights, control heating & humidity for my snakes & tarantulas, control a blind based on the light level in the room and all from one device!
Please feel free to tell us all about the automations you will be making when you get your very own!
@UKAndyC Thanks for the preview. Does it support multiple zones? I asume thats not the case because the FP300 should be a FP2 light version. No Zones, but temperatur and humidity.
Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to test the FP1E and I also haven’t bought that particular sensor. However, I do know that it is smaller than the previous sensor, it also integrates millimetre wave and PIR sensing in a dual sensing mode and you can switch between thread and ZigBee protocols. Overall I have found this to be literally the best sensor I have ever tested or owned.
This is correct, it does not have separate zones, however this does not diminish the sensor in any way in my opinion. It is useful in a lot of areas where something like the FP2 is either not needed or practical. Yes, it is a little bit like a light version of the FP2 and it also has a light sensor along with the temperature and humidity.
It would be nice to have the option of charging, or recharging the battery yes, however since the battery will hopefully last for over two years, I don’t think this would be too much of an issue. Maybe a future duration of the device may have an inbuilt rechargeable battery.
Thanks for sharing, now I really want one in every room with the Lux , Temp and Humidity I can get rid of my old kit and upgrade to an all in one solution, motion looked fast in response time and presence if as good as the FP1 and 2’s will make this the best yet.
What would I do with this?
I’ve avoided putting cameras in our bedrooms, except for the baby room, so a presence sensor would solve all privacy questions and concerns from the family members.
It would also free up some T1 sensors I currently use in the different rooms.
