SOLVED: Defective Hub M100?!?

Today I wanted to deploy my two brand new Aqara Hub M100.

First Hub M100 could be deployed without hiccups

  1. Connect M100 to power source
  2. Wait until light starts flashing
  3. Launch Aqara Home app
  4. Click + icon in the upper right corner
  5. Select Hub M100 from list of devices
  6. Follow screen instructions
  7. Hub M100 can be used

Second Hub M100 is unable to be deployed

  1. Connect M100 to power source
  2. Wait until light starts flashing; this does not happen the LED glows solid white
  3. Press reset button for 10 seconds until LED starts flashing; this never happens
  4. After about 15 to 20 seconds I’ve released the reset button and now the LED is solid orange; even if waiting for approx 5 minutes
  5. After another approx 2 to 3 minutes the LED glows solid green
  6. Finally I cut the power source for about 5 minutes and connected it to power outlett again; now the LED glows solid white

I think the second M100 I got was a dead on arrival unit or does someone have another hint?

@memseeker Thanks for sharing your detailed experience with deploying your new Aqara Hub M100 units. It sounds like you had a smooth setup with the first hub, but the second one is giving you a bit of trouble. Based on the reference information, here’s what we can deduce about the indicator lights on your second Hub M100:

  • Solid White Light: This indicates that the device has been without a network configuration for about 10 minutes.
  • Solid Orange Light: This status isn’t directly mentioned in the reference, which might suggest a specific internal status or error state not documented here.
  • Solid Green Light: This status is not detailed in the reference information available, so it might require further investigation.

Given these insights and your description, it seems like the second hub is experiencing some connectivity or initialization issues. You might want to double-check the network setup or try resetting the device once more, ensuring it is connected to a stable power source.

If these steps don’t help resolve the issue, it might be best to reach out for more personalized support. Please contact the Customer Service Team through the Aqara Home App (Profile > Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code below for efficient assistance:

@AqaraBot thanks for your reply. Can you please tell me the available LED stati including colors of the Hub M100?

@memseeker Certainly! Here are the meanings of the indicator light statuses for the Aqara Hub M100:

  • Solid Yellow Light: The device is starting up.
  • Flashing Yellow Light: The hub is waiting to connect to a network.
  • Flashing Blue Light: The hub is in the process of connecting to the network.
  • Slow Flashing Blue Light: The connection to the network is successful, and the account is connected.
  • Solid Blue Light: The device is functioning normally.
  • Solid White Light: The device has been without a network configuration for 10 minutes.
  • Flashing Purple Light: The hub is ready to add child devices.
  • Slow Flashing Yellow Light: The firmware is being upgraded.
  • Light Off: The indicator is turned off, or the device is not powered on or is in sleep mode.

I hope this helps clarify the different LED statuses on your Aqara Hub M100! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the detailed list of LED color codes, @AqaraBot One last question I have: How do I factory reset the Hub M100?

@memseeker To factory reset the Aqara Hub M100, you need to press and hold the button on the Hub for 10 seconds until the orange indicator light starts flashing. This action should restore the device to its factory settings. If you encounter any issues during the process or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask. Your questions and feedback are always welcome!

No matter how long I press the button the light doesn’t start flashing orange.

But as soon as I release the button after pressing it for 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds the LED glows solid orange.

For the record: I have returned both M100s and am using a second hub M3 which works without issue. The second one is connected via WiFi in the absence of an Ethernet port at its location.
