Solving Shelly 1 Mini Gen 4 Wiring Puzzle: A DIY Success Story

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience installing a Shelly 1 Mini Gen 4 for our outdoor lighting. At first, it was a bit overwhelming, but I managed to figure it out with some research and patience. Let me walk you through my journey!

I started by looking at the existing setup—a combination of switches controlling outdoor lights and power outlets. The challenge was identifying the correct phase connections, especially since the wiring was more complex than the typical setup shown in tutorials. I had to carefully trace the cables and test the connections to ensure I didn’t mix up the live (L) and neutral (N) wires.

After some trial and error, I realized that the live wire from the blind switch needed to connect to the Shelly’s input, while the neutral wire should be connected to the output. Once everything was properly wired, I configured the Shelly through the app and tested it. It worked perfectly! Now, I can control our outdoor lights remotely and even set up schedules for them.

This project gave me a great sense of accomplishment, especially since I’m still learning the ropes of home automation. If anyone else is tackling a similar project, I highly recommend taking the time to map out your connections and test each step carefully. It might take a bit longer, but it’s worth it to avoid any issues down the line.

Happy tinkering everyone! :rocket:
