Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in integrating Spotify into my smart home setup! 
I’ve been using Spotify Premium and followed the instructions from the Home Assistant documentation to set it up. Everything works smoothly, but I did run into a couple of bumps along the way that I thought I’d share in case others are experiencing similar issues.
First off, I was able to add Spotify’s curated playlists like ‘Hits Alegres’ and ‘Rock Classics’ without any trouble. However, when I tried adding my own playlists, nothing happened when I clicked on them. After some digging, I realized I needed to ensure the playlist IDs were correctly formatted and that my account permissions were set up properly. Once that was sorted, my playlists started working like a charm!
Another thing I noticed was that the shuffle feature wasn’t working as expected. The songs were playing in the same order every time. I discovered that enabling shuffle in the Spotify app itself and then syncing it with Home Assistant did the trick. It’s such a relief to have that randomization back in my music experience!
For anyone looking to integrate Spotify into their smart home, here are a few tips I’ve picked up:
- Double-check your playlist IDs: Make sure they’re correctly entered and formatted.
- Sync settings across platforms: Sometimes features like shuffle need to be enabled in both the Spotify app and your smart home setup.
