As spring arrives, I’ve been diving into some fun DIY projects to spruce up my smart home setup!
One of my favorites was adding a soft pastel light to my lamp using some simple DIY techniques. It’s subtle enough for everyday use but adds a nice touch for special occasions. Plus, it’s been a great way to experiment with different lighting effects without overwhelming my space. Speaking of experiments, I’ve been trying to integrate more devices into my smart home ecosystem. I recently set up zigbee2mqtt and was thrilled to get some Xiaomi and Tradfri devices working seamlessly. However, I hit a snag when trying to pair more than 15 devices. From what I’ve read, zigbee2mqtt should support up to 48 devices, but I’m not sure why I’m hitting this limit. Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a workaround? I’d love to hear your insights! Another project I’ve been working on is designing custom housings for my Shelly devices. I’m planning to install five Shelly units to control my blinds, but I want them to blend in seamlessly with my home decor. I’ve been researching whether there are official dimension drawings for these devices or if I need to measure everything manually. If anyone has tips or resources on this, I’d be grateful! On a lighter note, I’ve also been exploring new ways to enhance my daily routines with smart tech. For instance, I’ve been using my virtual thermostat to create zoned heating in my home, and it’s been a game-changer. However, I’m still a bit fuzzy on how the “thermostat hysteresis degrees” setting works. I’d love to understand how this affects temperature control and if there’s an optimal setting for my setup. Lastly, I wanted to share a fun tip for anyone looking to add outdoor cameras to their system. I’ve been wondering if I need a separate subscription for my outdoor camera or if I can just add it to my existing doorbell subscription. If anyone has experience with this, please share your setup and any tips you might have! Spring is the perfect time to experiment, tinker, and upgrade your smart home setup. What DIY projects or smart tech experiments have you been working on lately? I’d love to hear about them! ![]()
