ST Leak Sensor and Solar Energy Integration: A Smart Home Journey

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experiences with integrating some smart home devices and hope to get your thoughts on a few things I’m exploring.

First, I’ve been thinking about using a ST leak sensor to monitor condensation on my windows. The room in question isn’t used often, but I’d love to get an early warning before it becomes a bigger issue. I’ve heard great things about ST sensors, but I’m curious if anyone has experience using one vertically. Does it pick up moisture effectively in that orientation? I’d love to hear if others have tackled similar setups!

On another note, I’ve been diving into solar energy monitoring. I’ve got a setup with two inverters of different models, and it’s been a bit of a challenge to get accurate data. I tried using the Fronius integration in Home Assistant, but it didn’t quite work as expected. I’ve turned to web scraping to pull data from my solar stats page, but I’m not entirely sure if this is the most reliable approach. Has anyone else successfully integrated solar data using scrape? Any tips on simplifying this process would be amazing!

Lastly, I’ve been exploring ways to make my smart home more accessible for my family. My spouse often finds herself needing to control devices remotely, but the process can be a bit overwhelming with VPNs and tunnels. I’d love to hear how others have simplified remote access for their loved ones. What’s worked well for you, and what would you change if you could?

This journey into smart home tech is both exciting and a bit overwhelming, but I’m learning so much along the way. Thanks in advance for any insights or advice you can share!
